A first born loses the heir of his crown to his brother who runs away in cowardice.

Crowned on probation he now has to bring his brother back to take the throne.

A collection of character designs I did of my character Severin during my storytelling module at Gobelins.

I tried to work from an older version I had of this character and redesign it in a western anime style. My main inspirations were Castlevania and Berserk.

We follow Mít’s warm relationship with her father throughout her childhood, and witness how it slowly shifts under the weight of time.

As she enters adulthood, Mít realizes she can no longer cling to the image of her father she created as a child. Symbolised by their shared and passing tradition of eating jackfruit together.

With the character designs of Mít and her father I tried to explore the essence of a modern Vietnamese family. Trying to minimise detail for 2D-Animation, as we're a 2 directors team.

I designed Mít for 3 stages of her life whereas her father remains unchanged. Mít's outfit as an adult reflects more current trends whereas the costume designs of her child self and father look older and timeless.

… symbolically it implies Mít's idealisation of her Dad throughout her life and the denial of him aging and changing
